First Haircut

Addie has been needing a haircut for quite some time now. If you can remember, she was born with quite a bit of hair. She did lose some on the top and back of her head, but never lost all of her hair. So, that means it got really long in certain places (relatively-not long compared to her cousin, Olivia's hair) over the course of the year. Daddy has been wanting it cut for quite some time since it is always in Addie's eyes, and she constantly gets food in it, but Mommy has been a little more hesitant for multiple reasons. First of all, the haircut is a big step out of being a baby to being a little girl-or so it seems. Plus, Mommy is not real confident in her haircutting abilities. Nonetheless, Mommy finally broke down and decided to attempt the haircut this past Saturday. Here are the before pictures:

And the one after picture:
I don't know if it's just me, but I really feel like Addie looks much more like a little girl here. As for the actual haircut, I would say Addie did okay. It was Daddy's job to entertain her while Mommy tried cutting. This was difficult, and the bangs definitely ended up shorter than we would have liked them to. But, at least hair grows back, right? All in all, though, I think the haircut was a good decision and I think the outcome is that Addie is still really cute...but I also know I'm biased. As for Daddy, he was not a big fan of the haircut right after it was completed, which is funny since he was the one that really wanted it to happen. He admited a day or two later, though, that he thought the reason he hadn't liked it too much was because it made Addie look older. He is getting used to it, though, and also thinks she's really cute! It's sad that our baby girl is growing into a little girl so quickly, but at least we will have another baby around before long!

  1. Oh, she looks so cute!! She smiling so big because she is thinking "I can see, I can see!" =) You did a great job. I watched a ton of videos on youtube about cutting hair before I did Austin's which helped, but I can't ever get his hair just right. Oh well.

  2. oh my gosh, you did an AWESOME job!! Way to go!! She looks even more adorable than usual, if that's possible!

it was the same way in our house. Our girls had pretty much NO hair, but it did start getting in their eyes eventually. Scott had been bugging me for a while to cut it, but it took me longer to warm up to the idea :)
